Ambervoid originally formed in late '97 when Scooby answered an advert from Ben in their local college. They
then met Jake who was playing with a friends band and met Marcus at a club in walthamstow. They began to
write their own songs and started countless live shows in and around London. Ambervoid were then picked up
by independent record label Halo, and began recording and touring the country developing a loyal following.
Then in late 2002 Ben left the band to pursue a career in computer animation, this was a shock to the group who
tried to carry on with a new singer, but after a few gigs another shock came when Marcus also left. The band then
parted company with halo. The remaining two members, Jake and Scooby, began moving their equipment out of
the studio and set it up in a nearby barn, where they carried on writing music and auditioning new musicians.
New musical projects began to form with Jake joining funk rock act Dancing with Henry and Scooby setting up
a studio and forming Kairo, an electronica solo project. Scooby and Jake also both played in an acoustic band
with dwh singer/guitarist Simon, called Head above Water. It was around this time that whilst auditioning
guitarists for a new noisecore band Scooby met Rob and formed One Missed Call with Jake and Jenny spent a
penny bassist, Chris. Jenny Spent A Penny then signed a publishing deal and Chris left omc to write and record
full time. Marcus then came back to fill in on bass. Realising how much he had missed music, Marcus became a
full time member again and ideas for Ambervoid started to flow once more. The band made the decision to put
Omc on hold and reform Ambervoid.
The new songs still retain the vibe of the older material, although the sound has grown and matured, with all
members working together to produce one thing. Marcus and Scooby, working as a vocal double act, range from
soft in the ear harmonies to lung bursting emotion, with the guitars wrapping and interweaving the sound together
and Jake providing a massive tribal back bone that drives the whole thing along. Music from the soul, pure and
simple.
With gigs and an ep lined up, the band hope to make 2006 a year to remember. Scooby, Marcus, Jake and Rob
want to thank everyone who has ever helped the band in any way and wish love and luck to all members of
Ambervoid, past and present.
